Pet Portraits

How It Works

Laura works closely with you to create a portrait that truly reflects your pet's personality.

1. Get in touch

Reach out via the commissions page or email info@rainbirdroots.com with a few photos of your pet and any preferences you have in mind.

2. Discuss your vision

Laura will talk through size, style, and any special details you'd like included — from favourite poses to meaningful backgrounds.

3. Creation & delivery

Your original watercolour is painted by hand, then carefully packaged and shipped. UK delivery is free via Royal Mail First Class.

Each pet portrait begins with a conversation, as Laura takes time to learn what makes your companion truly themselves — the tilt of a head, the particular glint in an eye, the way they hold themselves when at rest or alert. Working from your photographs and memories, she builds the watercolour in delicate layers, letting the paint breathe on the paper to capture softness of fur and the warmth of familiar expressions. The finished piece is more than a likeness; it is a quiet celebration of the bond you share, rendered in the same gentle, heartfelt style that runs through all of her artwork. Whether displayed in a favourite room or given as a meaningful gift, each portrait becomes a lasting tribute to a much-loved friend, created with patience and care in the rural Herefordshire countryside.
